Introduction to the Story of Ahmmit's Gate
A new museum has opened in the shady underbelly of downtown New York. This museum hosts a group of ancient artefacts thought to have occult links to various mythologies. A specific artefact, known as “Ahmmit’s Gate,” acts as a centerpiece in the exhibited collection and has drawn the attention of malicious forces. A power-hungry cabal composed of disgruntled security guards obsessed with the occult have met in the basement at their place of work to perform a ritual using Ahmmit’s Gate. It is believed by historians that the individual who can open the Gate will gain control of the murderous creature known as “Ahmmit” lurking within its murky depths. The cabal seeks to use Ahmmit to exact revenge on the owner of the museum, named Richard Wadsten, who has grossly underpaid his workers and threatened to ruin their reputations among the city’s different security firms so that getting a new job is almost impossible.
Upon the successful activation of the Gate’s portal by the cabal, Ahmmit is summoned, and claws her way through the dark realm serving as her makeshift home to enter the land of the living. The game begins with Ahmmit popping out of the portal and landing on a symbol bearing a resemblance to a pentagram surrounded by fearful security guards. Horrified by the reality of what they have summoned, the guards attack Ahmmit and our monstrous protagonist is left to commence her slaughter. As Ahmmit explores the museum, she will become weaker and weaker unless she harvests human fear to an extent that allows her to tear open a new rift at the Gate and return home safely.

Who is Ahmmit?
Ahmmit is an otherworldly being who exists in a dimension separate from that of Earth and humanity. This dimension is drowned in a mysterious energy from which Ahmmit was first spawned millennia ago. Due to the nature of Ahmmit’s birth, she is utterly dependent on the energy from which she was formed and would ultimately suffer her own version of death if forced to dwell long in a land absent of it. Ahmmit’s unique vision allows her to see this energy in a physical manner while humans only see empty air. This reasoning behind a human’s inability to see the energy is the fact that the energy manifests itself on Earth in the form of fear, specifically the fear felt by humans. Unfortunately for Ahmmit, her ocular enhancement comes at a price as she must rely on echolocation to see beyond a certain distance.
What Does Ahmmit Want?
With a twisted mind bereft of mercy or empathy, Ahmmit is truly a being to be feared. Ahmmit’s dark drive to spread terror and mayhem among humanity overrides any other thoughts. There is no distinction between guilty or innocent for Ahmmit. She only sees potential victims who exist to feed her endless hunger for fear. To Ahmmit, fear is not a negative emotion, but instead a hauntingly beautiful art that must be refined and mastered.
Ahmmit’s penchant for cruelty is matched only by her cleverness. She is constantly searching for new and creative ways to instill fear in her unfortunate victims. Ahmmit uses the environment to her advantage by finding hiding spots that envelop her dreadful form in shadow so that enemies do not detect her presence until the killing blow is struck. Objects can be fashioned into a weapon for her to further her dastardly deeds. A shining chandelier meant to beautify a room may become an instrument of death once it enters Ahmmit’s view.

How Do Other Characters Perceive Ahmmit?
From the point of view of her enemies, Ahmmit is a terror when unseen and a target to fire upon without hesitation when she is finally visible. Therefore, Ahmmit can perform even the simplest and most innocent of acts while hidden from view and still inspire fear. Making a noise near an enemy by dropping an object like a bone will cause the enemy to snap their eyesight to the direction from which the noise originated and then subsequently look around frantically in a fear-fueled haze of immense paranoia.
However, catching a glimpse of Ahmmit allows the enemy to see her as a more physical presence that can be wounded and possibly killed. The mystery of Ahmmit, a thing often wielded by her as a shield that either repulses cowardly enemies or freezes brave enemies in place, is instantly shattered in a moment as momentous as Ahmmit being revealed to be more than a specter of ancient tales. Consequently, the enemy will immediately attack Ahmmit in an enraged state as the relief of being able to spot her is replaced by an overwhelming anger at Ahmmit’s murderous deeds.
It can be assumed that Ahmmit has no allies or friends among the denizens of the game world and thus she relies solely on her own superhuman abilities and mystical powers to achieve her goals as well as survive the daily ordeal of her existence.

Who Will Ahmmit Fight?
All enemies in the game will be humans patrolling the museum, trying to find and neutralize the dangerous threat that is Ahmmit. Each room has a fixed number of enemies that are spawned when the game begins. There are four types of enemies: security guards, police officers, SWAT soldiers, and SWAT captains.
